WHY MORE COURTS?

Tired of waiting to play at peak times? Simply put, we are part of the growth and  popularity of pickleball. We have nearly 700 players in the Santa Fe area coupled with hundreds of visitors who frequent our courts. According to the USA Pickleball Association, a community of our size warrants 30 courts, which is why our existing 6 public outdoor courts at Fort Marcy are so overwhelmed.

WHAT DO WE GAIN BY ADDING SIX MORE  COURTS AT FORT MARCY?

• No more waiting! More flexibility in meeting the volume and levels of play, along with courts for instructional opportunities and club events.

• More opportunities for new players. Last year free lessons were given to over 100 people, including students from the public schools, St. John’s College and the New  Mexico School for the Deaf.

• A complex of 12 courts allows our club to sponsor state and regional tournaments that will have a considerable economic impact for the community, generating roughly $250,000 per tournament.

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OUR  CLUB AND THE CITY?

The Santa fe Pickleball Club has an agreement with the City of Santa Fe that enables the club to organize the use of the courts to maximize opportunities for play, competition and instruction. The Club’s commitment to the city includes our contribution to the cost of construction. All contributions are tax deductible.
